In short
- Your study progress and settings stay on your phone.

- Statements, reports and CVs you write in the app are kept only on your phone until you choose to share them.

- We don't sell your data or keep a profile of you.
Who we are
Guard Ace ("the app", "we", "us") is published by Ekspeace. Contact us at Ekspeace@gmail.com.
Guard Ace is an independent study aid. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA), SASSETA, any training provider or any government entity. It does not issue grades, certificates or registration, and it is not legal advice.
What data is used, and why
| Data | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your answers, progress, mock results, chosen grade and pass-mark settings | Stored only on your device | To schedule revision, show your readiness and mark mock exams |
| Statement, incident report and CV drafts, and your document checklist. Statements may include names and descriptions of other people you type in | Stored only on your device. Shared only when you tap Copy or Share, to the app you choose | So you can finish a draft later and send it where you need it |
| Your PSIRA certificate expiry date | Stored only on your device | To count down to expiry and, if you switch it on, schedule reminder notifications on your phone |
| Advertising ID, device and app-usage information | Google AdMob | To show ads, including an optional rewarded ad for an ad-free day, and to prevent ad fraud |
| A problem report you choose to send: the question's ID, its text and source, and the app version, plus anything you type | Your own email app, then our inbox | To fix a question you tell us is wrong |
Advertising
Guard Ace is free and funded by ads from Google AdMob. Google may collect and use device information and your advertising ID to show and measure ads, as described in Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Consent. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA and UK), the app shows Google's consent message before any ads are requested, and a "Privacy choices for ads" option in Settings lets you change your choice at any time.
You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings (Android: Settings > Privacy > Ads).
Notifications and speech
Renewal reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone. Nothing is sent to a server. The radio trainer reads words aloud with your phone's own text-to-speech engine.
Links to other websites
Settings lists the official sources the app is written from (for example PSIRA, the Department of Justice and gov.za). They open in your browser, and those websites' own privacy practices apply.
Young users
Guard Ace is made for security officers and people training to become one. PSIRA registration requires applicants to be at least 18. The app is not directed at children.
Keeping and deleting your data
- Study data stays until you use Settings > Reset study progress, clear the app's data, or uninstall. Drafts are deleted with the Clear button in each builder, and your expiry date with "Remove my date and reminders".
- Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to deal with your report.
- Data sent over the internet by the advertising SDK is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
Your rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and laws such as the GDPR where they apply, you may ask to access, correct or delete personal information, object to processing, or withdraw consent. Because we hold no accounts or profiles, most requests are handled by resetting or clearing the app's data, but you can always contact Ekspeace@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator.
Changes to this policy
If we change what the app does with data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
