IAC Ace (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is published by Eks. This policy explains what data the app collects, why, and what choices you have. Contact: Ekspeace@gmail.com.
Summary
IAC Ace has no accounts, no sign-in and no server of ours. Everything you do in the app — which cards you graded, your Leitner boxes, your streak, your saved references and any sitting date you set — is stored on your device only.
The app uses one third-party service: Google AdMob, which shows the adverts that pay for the app being free. AdMob is the only reason the app needs an internet connection at all; every card, summary and scope entry is bundled in the app and works offline.
What we collect and why
1. Study data (stored on your device)
The competency area you chose to focus on, every card grading, the Leitner box and due date for each card, your daily count and streak, your saved code index entries, your session history and any IAC sitting date you set are stored locally using your device's standard app storage. This information is never transmitted to us and we cannot see it.
Because it is local, we do not back it up and it does not follow you to a new phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently. You can also clear it yourself at any time with Settings → Reset progress.
We do not ask for your name, email address, ID number, SAICA membership number, employer or training office, and there is nowhere in the app to enter them. Please do not try to.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows a banner advert on some screens and a full-screen advert when a review session ends. No advert is ever shown during a review session — interrupting a recall attempt would defeat the point of the app.
To serve adverts, Google may collect and process device information and identifiers (for example your device's advertising ID, IP address, and general device and app information). We do not receive that data ourselves; it is processed by Google as described in Google's privacy policy and by Google's advertising partners.
Consent. Where required, we present a Google-certified consent message (Google UMP) before any advert is requested. You can change your choice at any time through Settings → Ad privacy options. Where consent is not granted, adverts are limited or not shown, and the rest of the app continues to work normally — nothing in IAC Ace is locked behind watching an advert.
What we do not do
- We do not run any server that receives your data.
- We do not use analytics, crash reporting or attribution SDKs.
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites ourselves.
- We do not ask for contacts, photos, location, microphone or camera access.
Purchases
This release of IAC Ace has nothing for sale. The whole card bank, the code index, the summaries and the scope reference are open to everyone, funded by adverts.
If subject packs are introduced in a later release, the purchase itself would be handled entirely by Google Play or the Apple App Store. We would never see or store your card details.
Children
IAC Ace is intended for postgraduate accountancy students and trainee accountants. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Data retention
We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Your study data lives on your device for as long as the app is installed.
Your rights under POPIA
The Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 gives you rights over personal information held about you. Because IAC Ace stores your study data only on your own device and we operate no server, we hold no personal information about you to access, correct or delete. Any personal information processed for advertising is processed by Google as an independent responsible party — see Google's privacy policy for how to exercise your rights against them.
If you believe we hold information about you and want it dealt with, write to Ekspeace@gmail.com and we will respond. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
About the study content
IAC Ace is an independent revision aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to SAICA, and it is not a substitute for a SAICA-endorsed board course or PGDA programme. Tax figures are stated for a specific year of assessment and the examinable year deliberately lags the current SARS tables — always check a figure against your own course material before relying on it.
IFRS and IAS text is copyright of the IFRS Foundation, ISA text of IFAC/IAASB, and King IV of the IoDSA. IAC Ace does not reproduce any of it: those cards are written in original words and cite the standard so that you can open the real text. South African tax legislation and SARS guides are public documents and are quoted directly.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, note it in the app's release notes.
