2. Information We Collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account information: your name and email address when you register.
• Homework content: the text and images you scan or type, stored to show your history.
• Chat messages: follow-up questions you ask the AI tutor.
• Usage data: scan counts to enforce daily limits.

We do not collect your phone number, location, contacts, or any other personal data.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used exclusively to:

• Authenticate your account securely.
• Process your homework questions through our AI.
• Store your scan history so you can review past solutions.
• Enforce free-tier daily scan limits.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following trusted third-party services:

• Supabase: secure cloud database and authentication (EU/US servers).
• OpenAI: AI processing of your homework questions. Your questions are sent to OpenAI's API and subject to their privacy policy.
• Google AdMob: serves advertisements within the app. AdMob may collect device identifiers for ad personalisation.
• Google ML Kit: on-device text recognition. No data is sent to Google servers.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's secured servers with row-level security policies ensuring only you can access your own data. Homework images are stored in a private storage bucket accessible only by your account. We implement industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.

6. Data Retention

Your account data and scan history are retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete individual scans from the History screen at any time. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us at ekspeace@gmail.com.

7. Children's Privacy

SnapSolve is designed for students of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond what is necessary to provide the service. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights (POPIA)

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate information.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Object to processing of your information.
