By installing or using IAC Ace you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please uninstall the app. IAC Ace is published by Eks. Contact: Ekspeace@gmail.com.

1. What IAC Ace is

IAC Ace is a spaced-repetition revision aid for candidates preparing for the SAICA Initial Assessment of Competence (IAC), formerly the Initial Test of Competence (ITC). It drills recall of definitions, criteria, thresholds, formulae and decision matrices, and provides a searchable reference to the published examinable scope.

It is a companion to a board course, not a replacement for one, and it is deliberately not a mock examination. The IAC consists of three long-form papers of integrated case study; nothing in this app simulates that.

2. No affiliation with SAICA

IAC Ace is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, licensed by or connected to the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants, any SAICA-endorsed academic provider, the IRBA, the IFRS Foundation, IFAC/IAASB or the IoDSA. References to those bodies and their pronouncements are for identification and study purposes only.

3. Not professional advice

Nothing in IAC Ace is accounting, tax, audit, legal or financial advice, and it must not be relied on for any actual transaction, return, engagement or decision. It is study material aimed at an examination. If you need advice, engage a suitably qualified professional.

4. Accuracy of content, and the year of assessment

The card bank is a seed set that has not been independently reviewed. Cards marked CHECK SOURCE state an interpretation rather than a figure printed in a public document, and should be checked against your own course material before you rely on them.

Tax figures expire, and the examinable year lags the current one. The IAC examines a specific year of assessment set by SAICA's Taxation Knowledge List, which is normally behind the figures currently published by SARS. The app states the year it is scoped to. Do not assume a figure in this app is the current SARS figure, and do not assume the current SARS figure is the examinable one.

The examinable scope shown in the app is our reading of SAICA's published scoping documents, extracted mechanically. It may contain errors or omissions. Always confirm against the current published documents before relying on a scope conclusion.

5. No guarantee of a pass

Using IAC Ace does not guarantee that you will pass the IAC, or any assessment. We make no representation about your results. The IAC requires an overall pass mark together with a sub-minimum in the individual papers; how you perform depends on your own preparation across the whole competency framework, most of which this app does not and cannot cover.

6. Adverts and access

IAC Ace is free and funded by adverts served through Google AdMob. In this release nothing is locked: every card, summary, code index entry and scope entry is available to everyone, and no feature requires watching an advert.

If subject packs are introduced in a later release, purchases will be handled by Google Play or the Apple App Store under their terms, and their refund policies will apply.

7. Acceptable use

You may not:

8. Intellectual property

The app, its design, its code and the wording of its cards belong to Eks. The underlying standards, legislation and frameworks belong to their respective owners: IFRS and IAS to the IFRS Foundation, ISA to IFAC/IAASB, King IV to the IoDSA, and the CA(SA) competency framework to SAICA. South African legislation and SARS publications are public documents.

No standard, framework or examination paper is reproduced in this app. Cards drawing on copyright material are written in original words and cite the source so that you can read the original yourself.

If you are a rights holder and believe something in IAC Ace goes further than that, write to Ekspeace@gmail.com and we will address it promptly.

9. Your data

Your study progress is stored on your device only. See the Privacy Policy. Uninstalling the app deletes it permanently and we cannot restore it.

10. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend or discontinue the app or any part of its content at any time, including updating content for a new year of assessment or a revised scope. We do not promise uninterrupted availability.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, IAC Ace is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of marks, examination failure, loss of an opportunity, or loss of data arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have exclusive jurisdiction.
